STEPHEN F. DAUGHERTY, MD. FACS, RVT

Dr. Stephen F. Daugherty has been the leader in bringing state-of-the-art vascular diagnostic and treatment procedures to Clarksville, Tennessee since 1994.  He developed the non-invasive vascular diagnostic laboratory at Gateway Medical Center in 1996.  He conceived and designed the endovascular (minimally-invasive vascular) surgical suites at Gateway Medical Center (which have been models for other institutions around the country including Massachusetts General Hospital, the major teaching hospital for Harvard University School of Medicine).  Dr. Daugherty has been treating vein disease since 1979 and has trained throughout the country to learn new technology as it becomes clinically proven.  In 2004, Dr. Daugherty developed VeinCare Centers of Tennessee with the dedication to develop a center of excellence in vein care.  He has performed thousands of vein procedures and has trained other physicians in performance of vein procedures.

Dr. Daugherty is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and was one of the first group of physicians certified by the new American Board of Phlebology in 2008.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American College of Phlebology.  Dr. Daugherty trained in vascular ultrasound techniques in the 1980s and became certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist in 1992. He has served as a faculty member for the annual meeting of the American College of Phlebology.

Dr. Daugherty is the founder and Medical Director of VeinCare Centers of Tennessee.  He has special expertise in diagnostic vascular ultrasound and management of complex venous problems including deep vein thrombosis and venous obstructions.

Dr. Daugherty is an Eagle Scout with interests in mountain climbing, geology, and photography.  He and his wife are very proud of their three children who are pursuing post-graduate training in national security (government), naval aviation, and engineering management.
